Felicity King “borrows” a heirloom comb which Alec has given to Janet and loses it in a hay fight with Felix. Meanwhile, Janet thinks she has lost the comb, which she hates but must wear anyway because it is a family heirloom.
Felicity is distraught and can’t bring herself to tell her mother what she has done. She becomes tormented by visions of hell and eternal damnation, fueled by the new Pastor’s loud and exuberant sermons.
In an attempt to save Felicity, the kids visit Peg Bowen who convinces them to interpret a lunar eclipse as a sign of Judgement Day. In order to save the world and themselves the kids confess their secret sins to each other.
Currently, the loss of the comb is the only black mark on the ledger of my soul, easily outweighed by all my good deeds. – Felicity King
In the end, the world keeps turning and Felicity confesses to Janet about the missing comb. Janet also confesses to Felicity that she had a new comb made so that Alec wouldn’t find out she lost it.
